Hey I’m Kevin Cox; I am from Lexington, Kentucky and have been here ever since. I will be graduating in May of 2017 with a Bachelor in Civil Engineering with a focus in Transportation. Some hobbies of mine disc golf, hiking, camping, and varies wood and metal work.

For this project, I am working with Kevin Boerger on studying the bike routes for a small city, such as Chattanooga, and studying the high-volume areas of this city. Cities now have shared bikes you can rent and return at a different location. By seeing where these bikes are rented and where they are returned we can see what paths people most are likely to take and what the most popular areas in the city are.

San Francisco has experienced employment growth over the past decade, but the MUNI bus ridership has not followed this trend. This project aims to shed light on the factors that could be causing the flatline in MUNI ridership. Python is used to efficiently visualize spatially all of the potential factors. Data Trends in Mode Choice for San Francisco and other U.S. Cities: A Comparative Analysis

A Study done by John and Gina.

I am John Martin. I am from Georgetown, Kentucky, and am a senior at the University of Kentucky graduating in May 2017 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering. Some of my hobbies include riding my bike and playing basketball and Ping-Pong.

Currently the city of San Francisco Municipal Transit Authority (SFMTA) is producing a Travel Decision Survey each year for public consumption. These reports have data on people’s preferred modes of transportation around the bay area. The goal of our project is to find trends in mode choices from year to year in San Francisco as well as in other selected cities around the United States. This data will then be compared to trends in national mode choice data, which will come from American Fact Finder.

Assessing the Validity of GPS-Based Path Speed Data for Analysis on Urban Street Roadways

Hi! My name is Jacob Brashear and I'm a graduate student in Transportation Engineering at UK. I'm originally from Jeff, KY in Eastern Kentucky and first moved to Lexington when I was 18. I spent a few years moving from place to place while working in the Coal Industry as a Mining Engineer, but I decided to moce back to the Bluegrass after deciding to change my career. I hope you enjoy what I'm planning on doing for my project this year as well as my future Thesis work!

Currently, Bluetooth data is taken as the ground truth for speed data on urban street roadways in Lexington, Kentucky. A Private Data Vendor also collects speed data in both point-based and path-based forms. Python, along with add-ins such as Pandas, can format data from both Bluetooth and GPS formats for statistical comparison. Also, morning and afternoon peaks can be identified and compared and partitioned by time of day and day of week.

I am Kevin Boerger, I am from Northern Kentucky, which is about 10 minutes south of Cincinnati. I am currently a senior at the University of Kentucky, about to graduate with a degree in Civil Engineering in May 2017. Some of the things I enjoy with my free time are golfing, hunting, fishing, hiking, and spending time with friends and family.
